The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) General Secretary Daw Ni Ni Kyaw has confirmed that the military council has not yet captured the Kan Daunt police station in Sagaing Region, despite their propaganda claims. Intense fighting continues around the station as PLA and allied forces maintain their defensive positions. On August 1, military council troops from Oharkkan and Talaing Kan villages in Pale Township launched an offensive toward Kan Daunt station with heavy artillery support. However, PLA and allied forces have successfully contained the military council forces at a village approximately one mile from the station, where fighting remains ongoing.
The military council troops previously retreated to Inn Ma Htee Pu village station after losing control of Kan Daunt station. They have since attempted multiple counteroffensives to recapture the position, using Y12 and Mi17 aircraft to resupply troops, weapons, ammunition, and provisions. During these offensive operations, more than 50 military council soldiers have been killed and many others wounded, according to PLA reports. The resistance forces have established effective blockades around Kan Daunt station, preventing military council forces from advancing and recapturing the position.
The military council has launched repeated attacks from Inn Ma Htee village toward the Oharkkan and Talaing Kan areas, but PLA forces have successfully repelled these advances, forcing military council troops to retreat. During their withdrawals, military council forces have engaged in destructive actions, including burning villages and destroying civilian properties. Daw Ni Ni Kyaw detailed how local residents have suffered significant losses of homes and property due to these military actions. The situation remains tense as PLA and allied forces continue to defend their positions while protecting civilian areas from military council aggression.
