On June 18 in Yangon, the People’s Power Strike group held a protest demanding action against the military council for committing war crimes. The protesters called for the complete fall of the military dictatorship, the flourishing of democracy, and the release of political prisoners.
During the protest, participants conducted a blue movement campaign for the good health and swift release of State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners from prisons. They called on the international community to take action against the military council’s violence, detentions, and war crimes.
The People’s Power Strike group has been continuously organizing non-violent peaceful protests since the military coup. They plan to continue their demonstrations to raise global awareness and seek international action against the military council’s oppression, killings, arbitrary arrests, and human rights violations. The group aims to maintain pressure for accountability regarding the ongoing crimes committed by the military regime against civilians.
