On July 16 in Yangon, members of the People’s Force Strike Column and Multi-Village Strike Column Committee jointly organized a protest against the military dictatorship. During the demonstration, protesters demanded an end to the military dictatorship and the restoration of democracy, while also expressing opposition to the oppression that civilians are enduring under military rule. The strike columns conducted their protest peacefully, marching while carrying signs and posters opposing the military dictatorship.
The protesters boldly stood against the military regime’s unjust oppression and demanded justice for civilians who have been injured due to the military’s use of force in suppressing demonstrations. The strike columns declared their intention to continue their anti-dictatorship activities. Participants in the protest also highlighted the economic, social, educational, and health difficulties that people are facing under military rule. They emphasized the ongoing struggles of civilians living under the oppressive military regime.
Committee members participating in the protest spoke out about how the military dictatorship continues to violate people’s rights, restrict freedom of expression and assembly, and commit acts of violence against civilians. They also addressed the deterioration of security and loss of property under military rule, as well as the breakdown of law and order. The protesters highlighted how the military council’s actions have severely impacted the daily lives of civilians, including their basic rights and freedoms, while emphasizing the importance of continuing to resist the military dictatorship through peaceful means.
