According to statements and reports from People’s Defense Forces (PDF), seven members of the military council forces were killed in various clashes across Myanmar on May 25. The People’s Defense Forces from different regions confirmed casualties on the military council’s side during encounters with their troops. The fighting primarily occurred in the northern, eastern, and western regions of the country, where PDF units successfully repelled offensive operations by military council forces.
According to PDF statements, military council troops continue to commit acts of violence against local civilians, including burning villages and arbitrarily arresting and killing innocent people. The People’s Defense Forces indicated that their operations against military council troops were necessary to protect civilians’ lives, property, and security. The statements detail how PDF units engaged with military forces that were threatening local communities and civilian infrastructure.
However, it should be noted that independent journalists and human rights monitors have not been able to verify these reported military casualties on the ground. The military council has not officially acknowledged or released any statements regarding casualties among their forces. The information about military council troop casualties comes exclusively from PDF statements and communications, and while these reports are consistent with ongoing patterns of conflict, independent verification of specific casualty figures remains challenging due to restricted access to conflict areas.
