According to statements and reports from People’s Defense Forces (PDF), 13 members of the military council forces were killed across Myanmar on April 17. People’s Defense Forces in various regions have been engaging in daily battles with military council troops and reporting casualties on the military council’s side. The military council forces continue to commit acts of violence against civilians while also forcing people into military service.
According to PDF statements, military council forces have been conducting military offensives against local civilians, including burning properties, looting, and destruction. The military council troops have been burning civilian homes, confiscating property, and arresting and torturing civilians. These actions have been consistently documented across different regions of the country where military operations are taking place.
Yangon Modern News Agency notes that in reporting daily military casualty figures, they compile information from statements and reports issued by local defense forces, but cannot independently verify actual military casualties on the ground. However, the statements from People’s Defense Forces are considered to be based on close monitoring and observation of ground situations. The reporting aims to document the ongoing conflict while acknowledging the limitations in independently verifying casualty figures in active conflict zones.
