Local People’s Defense Forces successfully attacked military council positions in Kani town, Sagaing Region, using rockets and drones, resulting in one military casualty and significant damage to important buildings, according to a KLG PDF official. The attacks damaged a major’s residence, police staff housing, General Administration Office, and the Audit Office. The coordinated strikes demonstrated the growing capabilities of resistance forces in the region.
The sequence of events began on March 23 when military council troops conducted an unprovoked drone attack on Natgyi village’s port area. In response, Strategy 45 KLG PDF drone unit launched a counterattack on military positions in Kani town using two drones and seven bombs, severely wounding three military council soldiers. The following day, after military forces conducted drone surveillance over villages, PDF forces launched another attack, resulting in one military casualty.
On March 25, following additional military drone surveillance operations in the southeastern part of Kani township, Strategy 45 KLG PDF drone unit collaborated with Chindwin Rocket Brothers, Choimoi Mai Kani Territory Group, and local defense forces to launch a combined assault on Kani town using two drones, four bombs, and seven rockets. The attack resulted in severe injuries to two police officers. In retaliation, military forces indiscriminately fired heavy weapons at the northern part of the town and burned civilian homes in two wards. When the military requested helicopter support to evacuate the wounded police officers to the Northern Command Hospital, Division Commander Major General Kyaw Swa Win had not authorized the deployment at the time of reporting.
