The Yangon Army (YA) and Western District People’s Defense Force jointly carried out an attack using hand grenades on the military council-controlled ward administration office in Ward 141 of Dagon Myothit (South) Township, Yangon Region. According to a Yangon Army official who confirmed the incident to Yangon Modern News Agency, the attack took place at 10:01 PM on March 8. The operation was conducted in response to continuous oppression of local residents by the ward administrator and his associates.
The responsible official from the Yangon Army estimated that the ward administrator and his subordinates were likely casualties in the attack, and declared that such operations would continue until the complete fall of the military dictatorship. It has been reported that the military council’s administrative mechanisms have been engaging in forced military recruitment, extortion, and intimidation of local residents, which has prompted the People’s Defense Forces to maintain their offensive operations.
People’s Defense Forces have been frequently targeting the military council’s administrative mechanisms within Dagon Myothit (South) Township, working to dismantle the council’s administrative system. The public has been warned against cooperating with the military council’s administrative bodies. The Yangon Army has stated that attacks will continue as long as the military council persists in committing acts of violence against civilians. The resistance forces remain committed to their mission of dismantling the military council’s oppressive administrative structure and protecting civilian interests in the area.
