The People’s Defense Forces conducted an attack on the Shwepyithar Township Police Station in Yangon Region using remote-controlled mines. The attack occurred on August 6 at 7:50 PM and was jointly carried out by The Blood Line, an urban guerrilla force from Yangon, and the Hero guerrilla force from Battalion 3801, Division 5, based in Kyopingauk, Thayarwady District.
The attack involved the use of two remote-controlled mines, which resulted in loud explosions. The extent of casualties among police personnel under the military council’s command is still being investigated. Following the explosions, military council forces closed all roads in the area and continued security checks until 9:30 PM. The People’s Defense Force members successfully withdrew from the area without any casualties on their side.
Some residents of Shwepyithar reported that movement within the city remained normal during that evening and they did not notice any unusual circumstances. The Blood Line urban guerrilla force has issued a warning to civilians to avoid proximity to military council soldiers, police, and their supporters, as they will continue to carry out attacks against these targets. This operation represents another instance of resistance forces targeting military council infrastructure in urban areas as part of the ongoing opposition to military rule.
