A representative from the Ngwe Dwin Revolution Force has confirmed that an attack on a Pyu Saw Htee military column, which was attempting to transport supplies to Ayartaw town in Sagaing Region on June 6, resulted in casualties among the Pyu Saw Htee members. The incident occurred when People’s Defense Forces launched an ambush against approximately 50 Pyu Saw Htee members who had departed from their base in Ngwe Dwin village.
The engagement involved a coordinated pincer attack by resistance forces against the Pyu Saw Htee column as they were moving supplies toward Ayartaw town. The firefight lasted approximately one hour, during which numerous Pyu Saw Htee members were wounded, forcing them to retreat back to Ngwe Dwin village. Reports indicate that an additional force of about 30 members from Pyar Twin Pyu village and Thayet Ba Pyu village had also joined forces at Ngwe Dwin village.
While the exact number of Pyu Saw Htee casualties could not be confirmed, sources verified that between three to four members were wounded in the clash. Those who were killed in the fighting were reportedly buried at the battle site. Following the engagement, Kyaw Swe, the Pyu Saw Htee leader from Ngwe Dwin village, requested heavy artillery support and air support from the military council to facilitate future supply transport to Ayartaw town.
The operation was carried out through a joint effort of People’s Defense Forces from Monywa District’s Battalion 21, Defense Areas 9, 10, and 11, along with local allied forces. The resistance forces successfully withdrew from the area after the operation without suffering any casualties. This coordinated attack demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in disrupting military council-affiliated operations in the region.
