People’s Defense Forces launched a grenade attack on the military council’s administrative office in Ward 141 of Dagon Myothit (South) Township, Yangon Region. The attack occurred at 10:01 PM on March 8, carried out through joint operations between the Yangon Army (YA) and the Western District People’s Defense Force. According to a spokesperson from the Yangon Army, the attack was conducted in response to continuous oppression of local residents by the ward administrator and his associates.
Under the military council’s administrative system, ward administrators have been actively participating in threatening and extorting money from civilians, collecting military service registration data, and harassing families of People’s Defense Force members. The People’s Defense Forces have declared their intention to continue targeting the military council’s administrative mechanisms, stating that the fighting will persist until the fall of the violent military regime. A representative from the Yangon Army emphasized that this operation is part of their ongoing campaign against the military council’s local administrative structures.
The attack likely resulted in casualties among the ward administrator and his associates. The People’s Defense Forces have announced their systematic plan to dismantle the military council’s administrative mechanisms and continue their operations against all military council subordinates who perpetrate violence and oppression against civilians. This incident represents another significant strike against the military council’s local administrative structure, demonstrating the resistance forces’ commitment to dismantling the military regime’s control at the grassroots level.
