
A representative from the Myaing People’s Defense Force has confirmed that local resistance forces engaged and attacked military council troops who were advancing toward Myaing Township in Magway Region with significant forces. On May 1, soldiers from Infantry Division 101 based in Pakokku and its subordinate Infantry Battalion 254 launched an offensive into Myaing Township.
When the military council forces entered the area, they were met with resistance from a coalition of local defense forces including the PDF Joint Force, Myaing PDF, Pauk PDF, Pakokku PDF Battalion 1, Pakokku District Battalions (2/6/7/14/15/17), All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF), Gamma Alliance, 8+ Alliance, Central Plains Alliance, Garuda People’s Defense Force, PPDF, PLC Alliance, Bo Brother Alliance, Wolf Guerrilla Force, and Earthquake Force, who jointly conducted offensive operations against the advancing military column.
After continuous fighting resulted in heavy casualties for the military council forces, they failed to achieve their objectives and were forced to retreat back to Infantry Division 101 in Pakokku on May 7. Following the battles, when resistance forces conducted area clearance operations at the battle sites, they recovered 8 bodies of military council soldiers, one MA-1 rifle, over 500 rounds of ammunition, and other military equipment and supplies.
