The People’s Defense Force (PDF) has launched an attack on a Pyu Saw Htee military outpost located in Pahtaing village, Kywe Kan village tract, Kyunsu Township in Tanintharyi Region. The clash occurred around 3 PM on August 12, involving approximately twenty Pyu Saw Htee militia members and PDF forces, resulting in an hour-long firefight. The Pyu Saw Htee forces defended from their bunkers while receiving heavy artillery support from a military vessel.
During the battle, the military vessel stationed east of Pahtaing village fired artillery indiscriminately, though no civilians were reported injured in the bombardment. One PDF member sustained minor injuries during the operation, but authorities confirmed the wounds were not life-threatening. The exact casualties among the Pyu Saw Htee forces remain unknown due to communication disruptions in the area.
A spokesperson from the Kyunsu Township People’s Defense Force explained that their forces had to withdraw due to the strong defensive positions of the Pyu Saw Htee troops in their fortified bunkers and the intense naval artillery support they received. The PDF has issued warnings to local residents to remain vigilant during any future conflicts and to maintain safe distances from military personnel, police forces, and Pyu Saw Htee militia members. They emphasized the importance of civilian safety and advised residents to stay away from areas where these armed groups are active.
