The People’s Administration Team of Kanbalu Township in Sagaing Region has issued an important announcement regarding the military council’s sham election. The statement explicitly declares that they completely reject the fraudulent election planned by the military council within Kanbalu Township and cannot guarantee the safety of anyone who participates in or assists with the election process.
According to the statement, the current situation in Kanbalu Township reveals that out of two towns and 269 villages, the terrorist military only maintains control over the two towns and 34 villages, while revolutionary forces control 235 villages. This circumstance makes it entirely impossible for the military council to conduct any meaningful election in the area, as warned by the People’s Administration Team. The announcement emphasizes the military council’s lack of territorial control and legitimacy to conduct elections.
The statement also provides guidance for civilians who are unavoidably living in military-controlled areas. It suggests various ways to oppose the sham election and advises that if forced to vote, people can cast votes that do not support the military council. The announcement emphasizes that the military council’s fraudulent election is not only illegal but will also fail to reflect the genuine will of the people. The People’s Administration Team maintains that any election organized by the military council lacks legitimacy and warns against any participation that might lend credibility to this illegitimate process.
