The People’s Defense Force (PDF) has imposed travel restrictions in the Bago Yoma region of Htaukkyant Township, Bago Region, due to increased military operations by the terrorist army and to effectively combat illegal logging activities. According to a PDF official from Thayarwaddy District, these restrictions were implemented starting March 16. The restrictions were put in place as the terrorist military has begun operations within the area controlled by Underground Guerrilla Unit 4 of Battalion 3802, Thayarwaddy District, which is expected to lead to intensified military activities. The temporary ban affects all vehicles, machinery, and livestock movement in the area.
The main purpose of these travel restrictions is to protect innocent civilians from harm during military operations and to effectively prevent and suppress illegal logging of natural forest resources. The revolutionary forces are responsible for protecting forest resources while also taking action against illegal logging operations that generate income for the terrorist military council, as further explained by the PDF official from Thayarwaddy District. The restrictions cover all forms of transportation, including motor vehicles, three-wheelers, motorcycles, and cattle movement within the operational area.
As People’s Defense Forces are organizations working for public interest, they have explicitly stated in their announcement that they do not engage in collecting checkpoint fees or bribes, nor do they participate in illegal logging activities. They also firmly reject such activities if conducted by other revolutionary organizations. Local residents have been urged to comply with the regulations outlined in the announcement and to cooperate with the forces’ operations. The PDF has emphasized that these measures are temporary and necessary to ensure both civilian safety and environmental protection during this period of increased military activity in the region.
