The People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Putao District has seized 50 barrels of fuel that were being transported by the military council under the guise of relief operations on the Putao-Myitkyina road in Kachin State. The seizure took place at a PDF checkpoint on June 28, where both the vehicle and its driver were detained for further investigation. The fuel barrels were being transported in a civilian vehicle, allegedly for relief operations, but were actually intended for military council use.
According to a responsible official from the Putao District PDF, the fuel barrels were being transported with documentation signed by Kachin State Supervisory Officer Min Min, claiming they were for relief operations. However, investigation revealed that the actual purpose was to supply the military council forces. The PDF has been maintaining heightened vigilance over such movements, as the military council frequently uses civilian vehicles and relief operation claims as cover for transporting their military supplies.
While the driver and vehicle remain in custody, the PDF has stated that no immediate action will be taken against them. However, the fuel barrels will be confiscated to prevent them from reaching military council forces. The PDF has established checkpoints along key routes in the region to monitor and intercept such shipments, as the military council continues to use civilian vehicles for transporting fuel and supplies necessary for their military operations. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of local defense forces to disrupt the military council’s supply lines and their attempts to disguise military logistics operations as civilian relief efforts.
