According to statements from People’s Defense Forces (PDF), 97 members of the military council forces were killed across Myanmar on May 24. Various People’s Defense Forces across different regions have been releasing daily updates on their military operations and battle results, documenting in detail these casualties among military council troops. The clashes occurred across multiple states and regions as resistance forces defended against offensive operations by military council troops.
However, these reported casualty figures are based solely on statements and claims from local defense forces, and the actual deaths have not been independently verified by journalists or field observers on the ground. The military council typically does not release information about casualties among their forces and tends to withhold information about battles. The People’s Defense Forces engage in defensive operations when military council troops enter their territories, including ambushes, landmine attacks, and guerrilla operations.
Additionally, resistance forces have been conducting offensive operations against military council outposts and bases, resulting in reported casualties on the military council side. However, it remains difficult to accurately verify the exact number of casualties on both sides during these engagements. The ongoing conflict has created challenges for independent verification of battlefield casualties, with limited access for independent observers and journalists to confirm the actual extent of losses suffered by either side in these confrontations.
