Revolutionary forces have eliminated a Pyu Saw Htee member named Kyaw Maung Win who had been forcing civilians to pay military service fees and reporting those who couldn’t pay to the military for arrest in Minle Township, Bago Region. The incident occurred on March 4 in the afternoon when combined forces from Thayarwaddy District Battalion 3802 (Units 2 and 3) and Minle Township People’s Defense Force attacked Kyaw Maung Win while he was sitting in a roadside shelter near Takalae village along the Yangon-Pyay road. Kyaw Maung Win was a resident of U Taw Myanmar Su village in Minle Township.
During the attack, Kyaw Maung Win was shot once in the head and died instantly. The revolutionary forces seized a mobile phone from his possession that contained evidence of his communications with military council troops. Kyaw Maung Win had been forcibly collecting money from local residents under the guise of military service fees, reporting those who couldn’t pay to the military for arrest, and conducting surveillance on revolutionary force movements to report back to the military council.
According to a PDF official from Thayarwaddy District, Kyaw Maung Win personally participated in forcing local youth to serve as porters for the military, causing many young people to flee their homes out of fear. The revolutionary forces had been planning to eliminate him for some time but only recently got the opportunity. The PDF has warned civilians to stay away from military council collaborators as they plan to intensify operations against such individuals who assist the military in oppressing the local population. The elimination of Kyaw Maung Win represents the removal of a significant threat to civilian safety in the area, as he had been instrumental in the military’s forced recruitment and surveillance operations against local residents.
