A representative from the Kyunsu Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that their forces successfully attacked a Pyu Saw Htee military outpost in Pae Taing village, Tanintharyi Region, resulting in casualties among military council troops. The attack took place on April 12 at approximately 10:30 AM, when PDF forces launched a coordinated assault on the outpost, which was manned by around 10 military council soldiers. The engagement lasted for more than 25 minutes, during which the military council forces responded with 60mm mortars and small arms fire. Despite the counterattack, the PDF forces were able to withdraw safely without suffering any casualties.
The Pyu Saw Htee outpost in Pae Taing village is one of the main military council positions in the Theim Taung area, with a total force of over 20 soldiers stationed across two to three different locations. The attacked position specifically housed more than 10 soldiers, according to the Kyunsu Township PDF spokesperson. While the exact number of military council casualties could not be immediately confirmed, the PDF confirmed that there were casualties among the military council forces during the engagement. The military outpost’s strategic location and its role in maintaining the military council’s presence in the area made it a significant target for resistance forces.
According to local residents, the Pyu Saw Htee outpost has been a source of intimidation and oppression in the region, posing a significant threat to the security and well-being of local civilians. The military council forces have been reportedly engaging in forced money collection and requisitioning of supplies from local residents, while also imposing movement restrictions that have severely impacted daily civilian life in the area. These actions by the military council forces have led to significant hardships for the local population, prompting the PDF to take action against the outpost. The successful attack represents a significant blow to the military council’s control over the area and demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in the region.
