
The People’s Defense Force (PDF) from Myeik District Battalion 1 launched an attack on Palaw Police Station in Taungya Kan village, Palaw Township, Tanintharyi Region at approximately 6:30 AM on May 9. During the clash, a deputy police officer and one police officer from the military council forces were killed, while six other police personnel sustained injuries, according to an official from Myeik District Battalion 1. Following the battle, revolutionary forces successfully seized military equipment including one G-3 rifle, 200 rounds of ammunition, two ammunition magazines, two mobile phones, one set of rank insignia, and service medals from the military council troops.
After the battle, the military council’s Infantry Battalion 285 responded by firing 15 artillery shells toward Sapyu Pyin village and arbitrarily arrested five civilians from Auk Paing village. An official from Myeik District Battalion 1 stated that local residents have been frustrated with the military council’s forced conscription and extortion practices, and expressed satisfaction with the attack’s outcome. The revolutionary forces were able to withdraw successfully from the operation without suffering any casualties. The incident represents another successful operation against the military council’s forces in the region, demonstrating the growing strength and capabilities of resistance forces in Tanintharyi Region.
