A military camp stationed in East Bone Kan village, Pakokku Township, Magway Region, was attacked with heavy weapons by People’s Defense Forces (PDF), resulting in the death of one soldier, according to Ko Aung Maung, the commander of Southern Yesagyo PDF. The attack occurred around 10 AM on July 19, when revolutionary forces launched a close-range assault using 60mm and 40mm heavy weapons. The attack resulted in one soldier’s death and two others being wounded.
Following the attack, the body of the deceased soldier and the two wounded personnel were transported from East Bone Kan village to Pakokku city’s Thita Road checkpoint under multiple layers of security. The PDF forces fired three 60mm rounds during the attack, while the 40mm weapon was used for close-range engagement. The commander explained that the attack was carried out as a commemoration of Martyrs’ Day. The military council deployed hundreds of security personnel along the route from Thita Road checkpoint, Yebay, and Bone Kan checkpoint while transporting the casualties, with additional security outposts established along the way.
The military council has reinforced the Bone Kan checkpoint with approximately 70 additional personnel. The attack was jointly carried out by several revolutionary groups including Southern Yesagyo Local Alliance, Southern YSO PDF, Daung Nyi Naung, People’s Force, King Cobra, Yesagyo Revolution Group (YRG), and Daung Sit Thae forces. All People’s Defense Force members successfully withdrew from the operation without any casualties. The coordinated attack demonstrates the continued resistance against the military council’s presence in the region, with revolutionary forces maintaining their offensive capabilities while ensuring their operational security.
