In a series of clashes in Minhla Township, Bago Region, more than 80 military council troops were killed while one resistance fighter was martyred, according to Captain Baka, commander of Battalion 3802’s Company 5 in Thayarwady District. The initial engagement occurred on July 13 at around 1:40 PM, when resistance forces from Battalion 3802’s Company 5 launched an attack on military council troops stationed at Sapargyi Stream in the Bago Yoma region. The two-hour battle resulted in 30 military council casualties and numerous injuries among their ranks.
Following the battle, the injured military council forces retreated to Ban Bwe Kon village. However, they returned the next day, July 14, with reinforcements numbering over 400 troops and advanced into the Bago Yoma region. The military column reached Kha Chin Mountain at approximately 7:30 AM, leading to three separate battles around 48 Cave, U Talon Mountain, and Kha Chin Mountain that continued until 4 PM. During these engagements, the military council forces conducted continuous heavy artillery strikes and deployed three drones for aerial bombardment, forcing the resistance forces to withdraw from their position at Kha Chin Mountain camp.
The July 14 battles resulted in over 50 military council troop casualties and numerous injuries. On the resistance side, fighter Zamani was killed by a drone strike, and seven other fighters were wounded. The resistance forces also lost two motorcycles, rain gear, solar panels, rice supplies, and various equipment. Captain Baka revealed that the military council employed forced conscripts as frontline troops in human wave attacks attempting to capture the resistance camp. The military council’s tactics involved using these conscripted soldiers as human shields while advancing their positions.
Currently, while the military council column has withdrawn from Ban Bwe Kon village, there are concerns about potential future attacks. Local residents have been warned to avoid travel within the Bago Yoma region due to the possibility of renewed fighting. Captain Baka has appealed to the public to provide whatever support they can to assist the resistance forces in continuing their military operations against the military council forces. The situation remains tense as resistance forces maintain their positions and prepare for potential further engagements in the area.
