
According to local sources and officials from the Dawn Razah Main Strike Force, thousands of local residents were forced to flee to safety after military council troops launched operations in Budalin Township, Sagaing Region on the morning of August 26. A column of approximately 100 military council troops moved out from Budalin town along the road towards nearby villages.
Due to the military council troops’ movement, nearly 7,000 residents from 13 villages including Myauk Gyi, Htawan, Myauk Taw, Shan Tae, Talone, Pae Pyit Taw Nauk, Pae Pyit Taw Shae, Seik Tha Kan, Kyoe Kone, Nat, Myin Tha, Ywa Tha Lay, and Ok Pho villages had to abandon their homes and flee to safety. The military council troops are currently stationed in Pae Pyit Taw East village.
According to Ko Moe Kyo, an official from the Dawn Razah Main Strike Force, the military council troops have not yet arrested any civilians or burned down houses. However, local residents fled preemptively upon receiving news of the troops’ movement to avoid potential harm. The military council forces remain stationed in Pae Pyit Taw East village, and their next destination cannot yet be confirmed.
