The leader of Myingyan Black Tiger (MBT) forces has reported that more than 70 military council troops were killed in clashes near Myingyan city in Mandalay Region when resistance forces engaged with a military column of approximately 1,000 troops. The fighting began on July 31 when the military council forces entered territory controlled by revolutionary forces near Myingyan city. Two major battles occurred on August 1 and 2, resulting in the military council forces’ formation breaking down and retreating.
After the initial retreat, the military council reinforced their troops and launched another offensive with excessive air support. Although the revolutionary alliance forces mounted strong resistance, they were forced to abandon some camps on August 10 due to ammunition shortages as the fighting prolonged. However, the resistance forces continue to engage using guerrilla tactics and have prepared defensive positions. During the battles, more than 70 military council troops were killed and over 170 were seriously wounded, with some weapons and ammunition also being captured from them. The resistance forces are continuing their operations despite having to tactically withdraw from some positions due to ammunition constraints.
The revolutionary forces suffered casualties as well, with five members of the Myingyan Black Tiger forces and several allied fighters making the ultimate sacrifice. The defensive operations involved multiple resistance groups including Myingyan District Battalions 1, 2, 7, and 8, along with the Bo Sar Pyauk Force, Wolf Pack Force, Myingyan District PDF, Thaung Tha Township PDF, and other allied forces. While acknowledging current limitations in providing complete protection for civilians, the resistance leadership has announced their commitment to continue fighting against the military council with improved preparation and coordination among allied forces.
