In a significant military engagement in Nga Tharauk Sub-township of Mandalay Region, revolutionary alliance forces successfully encircled and eliminated a military council column, resulting in the deaths of more than 70 military council troops. According to a senior official from the Bagan People’s Force, the entire military column was destroyed in the operation, and the resistance forces managed to seize weapons and ammunition from the deceased soldiers. The successful encirclement operation by the revolutionary forces has been recorded as an effective military campaign that demonstrated their growing tactical capabilities in the region.
Meanwhile, the military council has awarded technical excellence awards to Brigadier General Myat Min Oo, who played a crucial role in fabricating allegations of electoral fraud in the 2020 General Election – allegations that were used as a pretext for the military coup. The awards were presented by military council leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, in what many civilians view as a reward for helping to derail the country’s democratic progress. This development has further highlighted the military council’s continued efforts to legitimize their seizure of power through the manipulation of electoral integrity claims.
In a separate incident in Pathein City, Ayeyarwady Region, a man armed with two pairs of scissors entered the downtown police station and launched an attack. The incident resulted in injuries to four police officers, including the station chief Kyaw Zay Latt. The attacker also sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation. This event is being viewed as another manifestation of the ongoing conflict and instability in the country, reflecting the broader context of civil unrest and resistance against the military council’s control. The incident has added to the growing list of violent confrontations occurring across the country as tensions continue to escalate between civilian populations and security forces aligned with the military council.
