A senior official from the Unicorn Guerrilla Force has confirmed that more than 50 military council troops were killed and three People’s Defense Force (PDF) members fell during battles in the Mingun region of Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region, throughout June. The fighting occurred when military council forces and Pyu Saw Htee groups launched major offensives into Mingun Taung village, Kyin village, and Chaungma Gyi village in the Mingun area from June 7 to June 28, which were met with resistance from revolutionary alliance forces.
During the series of battles, more than 50 military council soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members were killed and many others were wounded. The resistance forces also captured significant amounts of weapons and ammunition from the military council troops. The military forces had initially entered the region in early June, burning villages before withdrawing. They later returned on June 7 with approximately 200 troops, combining Pyu Saw Htee members from Sagaing city and military council soldiers, according to the Unicorn Guerrilla Force official.
The battles involved coordinated resistance from PDF forces based in Sagaing Township, Wuntwin Township, and Myittha Township. Two members of the Unicorn Guerrilla Force and one member of the Acid LDF were killed in action during the fighting. Throughout the conflict period, the military council forces engaged in destructive actions against civilian properties, burning down approximately 700 houses in Mingun Taung village, over 100 houses in Kyin village, and about 50 houses in Chaungma Gyi village.
