
A military convoy and infantry column from the Northwestern Command Headquarters in Monywa, Sagaing Region, was intercepted and attacked by resistance forces, resulting in more than 40 casualties among military council troops and the capture of one soldier, according to a responsible official from the Budalin Township Joint Force. During the operation, the resistance forces also seized a 12-wheel military truck and a motorcycle.
The attack occurred on August 10th under the leadership of the Monywa District Commander of resistance forces. During the battle, resistance forces captured one military soldier along with an MA1 rifle, four ammunition magazines, and 82 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition. Additionally, they seized a 12-wheel truck and an FZ motorcycle from the military council forces. The successful operation demonstrated the growing capabilities of resistance forces in the region.
The joint operation was carried out through the coordination of multiple resistance groups, including the Budalin Township Joint Force, Ayardaw Township People’s Defense Force, Ayardaw Sub-township Groups 9/10/11, Monywa District Strategy 66, People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Depayin Township-based Garuda Force, and Monywa Township People’s Defense Force. Officials from the joint forces described this battle as a successful operation for the liberation of local civilians from military council control. The coordinated effort highlighted the increasing cooperation among various resistance groups in their fight against the military council’s forces in the Sagaing Region.
