
An earthquake that struck Pyinmana, Naypyidaw on the afternoon of March 28 has resulted in numerous casualties, injuries, and widespread structural damage. According to an official from the Moe Saytana Humanitarian Organization (Yangon) Naypyidaw Branch, more than 40 bodies have been recovered so far, and over 130 people have been injured in the aftermath of the seismic event.
The earthquake caused significant damage to buildings and infrastructure, with many people still trapped under collapsed structures. Rescue teams are working diligently to extract those who remain trapped beneath the debris. The representative from Moe Saytana Humanitarian Organization indicated that rescue operations are ongoing and extremely complex due to the extent of the damage and the number of affected areas.
Local residents and rescue teams are working against time to save those still trapped, while the injured are being transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Rescue workers involved in the operations estimate that the number of casualties and injuries may continue to rise as more areas are accessed and more victims are discovered under the collapsed buildings.
