Military council bases in Chauk and Salay towns of Magway Region were attacked with short-range missiles by revolutionary forces, resulting in over 35 soldier casualties, according to a representative from the Thein Nget Nauk Seikphyu Revolutionary Front under the Magway Region PDF. The attacks began on September 4 at 9:45 PM, targeting Light Infantry Battalion 13 under Military Division 88 in Chauk with seven short-range missiles. The strikes hit their targets, killing more than 20 soldiers and wounding many others who had to be evacuated by ambulances. The attack also damaged supply convoy vehicles at the base, with surviving vehicles being quickly relocated to Kyaukpadaung town.
Subsequently, Infantry Battalion 416 based in Salay township was attacked with eight short-range missiles. While two missiles missed their targets, six successfully hit and exploded within the base, causing additional casualties among the soldiers. The combined death toll from both bases exceeded 35 soldiers, with more than 35 others wounded. The bodies of the deceased soldiers were secretly buried that same night. Military council forces were only able to conduct patrols in Chauk town and along the Ayeyarwady River more than three hours after the attacks.
These attacks were jointly carried out by the Thein Nget Nauk Seikphyu Revolutionary Front and the Chauk Thakin Phoe Hla Gyi Force, both operating under the Magway Region PDF. The revolutionary forces were able to withdraw successfully without any casualties. Additionally, on August 30 in the evening, revolutionary forces attacked the police station in Kamma town, Pakokku Township, with two hand grenades, killing two soldiers. Although the military responded with heavy weapons fire, the revolutionary forces were able to withdraw without any casualties. The attacks demonstrate the continuing resistance against military rule in the Magway Region.
