
According to a statement released by the Karen National Union (KNU) Nyaunglebin District, more than 300 battles occurred in the Nyaunglebin District of Bago Region during the first six months of 2025. During these conflicts, 242 military council troops were killed, and 209 weapons were seized. The battles took place within the territory of Brigade 3 in the Nyaunglebin District.
In addition to the 242 casualties, 189 military council troops were injured, and 7 soldiers surrendered. Revolutionary forces also captured 25 soldiers alive. On the resistance side, 44 revolutionary fighters sacrificed their lives, and 127 were severely wounded, as stated in the report.
The military council’s deliberate attacks on local civilians using airstrikes and heavy artillery resulted in the deaths of 49 innocent civilians and severely injured 181 others. Among the deceased were 29 women and 20 men. Additionally, 14 men and 3 women were detained by military council troops.
The military attacks also caused significant damage to local infrastructure. Eight schools, three Christian churches, 18 Buddhist monasteries, 168 civilian homes, and two shops were destroyed. Furthermore, nine motorcycles, three tractors, one vehicle, and one rice mill were also destroyed, according to the detailed statement from the KNU.
