
According to KIA military sources, more than 20 military council troops were killed during two consecutive days of fighting in Lonkhin village tract, Hpakant Township, Kachin State. On June 10, military council troops stationed at Mawsizar Pagoda Hill in Lonkhin village tract launched artillery attacks on Mawsizar, Thayakone, Lonkhin Cemetery, Lonkhin Hospital, and Lonkhin village. In response to this military advance, KIA and KPDF forces counterattacked using snipers, drones, heavy weapons, and small arms.
The military council forces fired 60mm artillery from Mawsizar Pagoda Hill while advancing their troops into areas around Lonkhin Cemetery, Lonkhin Hospital compound, and Lonkhin village. KIA and KPDF forces engaged the advancing military council troops with sniper fire, resulting in multiple casualties on the military council side. Additionally, on June 9, combined KIA and KPDF forces attacked military council troops who had entered the vicinity of Sankha village and Taukpyarkye Company using snipers, drones, and 40mm weapons, causing numerous military casualties. The military council troops retreated to Kathwemaut village, where they looted civilian property. KIA and KPDF joint forces also successfully eliminated two military council soldiers who were sitting at the Ngwe Thitsa tea shop near Mawbiza Pagoda Hill.
During the two days of fighting, over 20 military council troops were killed, and the military forces destroyed civilian property in Kathi Maw village. Since the military council troops entered Hpakant Township, they have been conducting artillery strikes on civilian villages, burning jade mining companies, and shooting innocent civilians, resulting in 19 civilian deaths and more than 20 injuries. The current commander in the Hpakant area has been identified as Colonel General Zaw Win, the Strategic Operations Command-3 commander from between Moekaung and Namti.
The military council’s forces have been conducting operations with approximately 600 troops who entered Hpakant through the Kamain road. Since their arrival in Hpakant, they have been responsible for the deaths of 19 civilians and injuries to about 20 others. KIA military sources have warned local residents in the Mawsizar, Lonkhin, and Sankha areas to remain vigilant about military movements and maintain security awareness due to ongoing military operations in the region. The situation remains tense as military council forces continue their aggressive actions against civilian populations while facing resistance from combined KIA and KPDF forces.
