
In a significant clash in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township, joint forces of the Doo Raka Column and Yebyu People’s Defense Force (YPDF) successfully engaged military council troops conducting road patrol operations, resulting in the death of more than 20 soldiers including a major, and the seizure of multiple weapons. The confrontation occurred around 9 AM on March 24 along Union Highway No. 8 between Nyinhtwe and Kyaukkannya villages in Yebyu Township, where approximately 150 to 200 military council troops were present.
During the battle, the military council forces received artillery support from Artillery Unit 304 based in Kyaukkannya, while mechanized paratroopers from Dawei provided additional reinforcement using a paramotor. The engagement resulted in significant casualties for the military council forces, with over 20 troops killed, including a major, and many others wounded, according to a responsible official from the Doo Raka Column. The resistance forces managed to capture several weapons, including one RPG-7 launcher, one MA-4 rifle, one MA-3 rifle, two MA-1 rifles, and various related military equipment.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Dawei Nationalities Liberation Army (DNLA) Doo Raka Column and the Yebyu People’s Defense Force. The resistance forces successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties. This engagement represents a significant victory for the resistance forces in their ongoing struggle against the military council in the Tanintharyi Region. The successful operation demonstrates the growing capabilities and coordination between various resistance groups in the area.
