According to a representative from the Daung Razaa Main Strike Force, thousands of civilians have been forced to flee their homes in the rain as military council troops entered villages in Budalin Township, Sagaing Region. The military troops from Gyi Badaung village in Monywa Township entered Zeetawgyi village in Budalin Township on May 29, and their presence continues in the area. Due to this military operation, approximately 1,800 residents from five villages – Zeetawgyi, Shwegyaunglae, Thayet Toe Yoe, Htanaungkone, and Kanthit – have had to flee to safety despite heavy rainfall.
The Daung Razaa Main Strike Force representative emphasized that the displaced civilians urgently need shelter materials due to the monsoon season. Local residents are forced to flee whenever military troops enter their areas because the military council regularly conducts arbitrary arrests, torture, looting of property, and burning of buildings. Currently, the military troops remain in the area, preventing civilians from returning to their homes. The ongoing military presence continues to pose a serious threat to the safety and security of local residents, who have been forced to abandon their homes and possessions while seeking refuge in harsh weather conditions.
