According to the Myaung Township People’s Defense and Security Force, more than 10,000 civilians have been forced to flee their homes due to military council forces conducting operations along the border of Yesagyo Township in Magway Region and Myaung Township in Sagaing Region, where they have been killing civilians and systematically burning villages. On March 2, approximately 80 military council troops from Yesagyo launched an offensive on Myay Sone village using heavy weapons, while drone attacks resulted in the destruction of two houses and seven motorcycles in Sin Chae Ya village.
The military forces burned Myay Sone village for a second time on March 3, and after reinforcing their numbers with 60 additional troops, they burned it for a third time on March 4. On March 5, they entered Zayat Ni village and burned civilian homes, followed by the burning of Tha Kaung Lay village on March 7. Currently, residents from fourteen villages are displaced, including Myay Sone, Sin Chae Ya, Malaka Chan, Shwe Hlan, Ywa Thit, Tha Kaung Gyi, Zayat Ni, Tha Kaung Lay, and Phyun Bu villages in Yesagyo Township, as well as Myit Sone, Nga Yant O, Min Hla, Pan Nyo, and Nyaung Kar Yar villages in Myaung Township.
During the raid on Myay Sone village, military council forces killed and burned several elderly civilians, including U Han Tin (over 70 years old), U Htay Myint (60 years old), U Than Mani (88 years old), Daw Than Pyay (60 years old), and Daw Hla Ngwe (86 years old), as confirmed by the Yesagyo Township Information Committee. The military council forces continue to attempt further incursions into Myaung Township, causing ongoing fear among local residents who continue to flee to safer areas. The situation remains critical as civilians face persistent threats of violence and displacement from military operations in the region.
