According to the Myaung Township People’s Defense and Security Force, over 10,000 civilians have been forced to flee their homes due to the military council’s ongoing attacks and village burnings along the border of Yesagyo Township in Magway Region and Myaung Township in Sagaing Region. On March 2, approximately 80 military council troops from Yesagyo launched an offensive on Myeisone village using heavy artillery. During the same day, drone attacks resulted in the destruction of two houses and seven motorcycles in Sinchiyar village.
The military council forces burned Myeisone village for a second time on March 3, and after reinforcing their troops with about 60 more soldiers, conducted a third burning of the village on March 4. On March 5, they raided Zayarpyi village and burned civilian homes, followed by the burning of Thakhaunglay village on March 7. Currently, residents from fourteen villages including Myeisone, Sinchiyar, Malakakyin, Shwelan, Ywartha, Thakhaunggyi, Zayarpyi, Thakhaunglay, and Phyonbu in Yesagyo Township, as well as Myitsone, Ngarhtoe, Minhla, Panyo, and Nyaungkayar in Myaung Township continue to seek refuge in safer locations.
The military council’s brutal actions have resulted in the deaths of several elderly civilians. In Myeisone village, they arrested and killed or burned to death U Han Tin (over 70 years old), U Htay Myint (60 years old), U Thanmani (88 years old), Daw Than Pyay (60 years old), and Daw Hla Ngwe (86 years old), as confirmed by the Yesagyo Township Information Committee.
