According to Ko Nwe Oo, head of the People’s Defense and Security Force in Myaung Township, more than 10,000 civilians have been forced to flee their homes as the military council conducts operations along the border of Yesagyo Township in Magway Region and Myaung Township in Sagaing Region, carrying out killings and systematic burning of villages. On March 2, approximately 80 military council troops from Yesagyo began their operation by entering Myeisone village while firing heavy weapons. On the same day, drone strikes resulted in the destruction of two houses and about seven motorcycles in Sinchiyar village.
The military forces burned Myeisone village for a second time on March 3, and after reinforcing their numbers with 60 more troops, conducted a third burning of the village on March 4. On March 5, they entered Zarapni village and burned civilian homes, followed by the burning of Thakhaunglay village on March 7. Currently, residents from fourteen villages are displaced, including Myeisone, Sinchiyar, Malakakyin, Shwelan, Ywartha, Thakhaunggyi, Zarapni, Thakhaunglay, and Phyonbu villages in Yesagyo Township, as well as Myitsone, Ngarhtoe, Minhla, Panyo, and Nyaungkayar villages in Myaung Township. These civilians continue to seek refuge in safer locations.
During their brutal operation, the military council forces committed atrocities in Myeisone village, including the arrest and killing of five elderly civilians: U Han Tin (over 70 years old), U Htay Myint (60 years old), U Thanmani (88 years old), Daw Than Pyay (60 years old), and Daw Hla Ngwe (86 years old), some of whom were burned to death, according to a representative from the Yesagyo Township Information Committee. The military council forces continue to attempt further incursions into Myaung Township, causing ongoing fear among local residents who continue to flee to safer areas. The situation remains critical as civilians face persistent threats from military operations in the region.
