
More than 10,000 civilians have been forced to flee their homes as military forces conduct operations along the border of Yesagyo Township in Magway Region and Myaung Township in Sagaing Region, carrying out killings and systematic burning of villages, according to the head of Myaung Township People’s Defense and Security Team. On March 2, approximately 80 military troops from Yesagyo launched operations with heavy artillery fire and invaded Myeisone village. On the same day, drone strikes resulted in the destruction of two houses and about seven motorcycles in Sinchaeya village.
The military forces burned Myeisone village for a second time on March 3, and after reinforcing their troops with about 60 more soldiers, they burned the village for a third time on March 4. On March 5, they raided Zarapni village and burned civilian homes, followed by the burning of Thakhaunglay village on March 7. Currently, residents from fourteen villages are displaced, including Myeisone, Sinchaeya, Malakakyin, Shwelan, Ywartha, Thakhaunggyi, Zarapni, Thakhaunglay, and Phyonbu villages in Yesagyo Township, as well as Myitsone, Ngarutoe, Minla, Panyo, and Nyaungkaya villages in Myaung Township.
Ko Nwe Oo, the leader of Myaung Township People’s Defense and Security Team, confirmed that over 10,000 civilians remain displaced due to ongoing security concerns, as military forces continue their attempts to advance into Myaung Township. During the raid on Myeisone village, the military committed brutal acts including the arrest and killing of five elderly civilians: U Han Tin (over 70 years old), U Htay Myint (60 years old), U Thanmani (88 years old), Daw Than Pyay (60 years old), and Daw Hla Ngwe (86 years old), according to confirmation from the Yesagyo Township Info Committee. Some of these civilians were reportedly burned to death by the military forces.
