Revolutionary forces launched simultaneous attacks on three military council positions in Launglone Town, Tanintharyi Region, on March 8 at 6 AM, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 military council soldiers, according to confirmation from the Launglone Township People’s Defense Force. The targeted locations included the Launglone Township Police Station, Township General Administration Office, and Township Law and Order Office, with numerous additional casualties reported among military council forces. During the battle, a navy warship stationed in the waters west of the terrorist military’s position provided artillery support, while additional artillery fire came from the Karstein Port in Dawei City.
Comrade Shay Door, the information officer of the Launglone Township People’s Defense Force, detailed the battle situation and highlighted the current practice of forced civilian conscription occurring across the country. He explained that while civilians forced into military service have opportunities to escape during battles, some choose to remain, apparently calculating to surrender only at the last moment. He warned that group surrenders would create difficulties for remaining soldiers and emphasized that there would not be second chances for those who fail to choose freedom when given the opportunity. The information officer also noted the concerning trend of civilian conscripts appearing to settle into military life rather than seeking escape opportunities.
The operation was carried out through coordination between the Dawei District Allied Forces, Spring Guerrilla Force, Student Revolutionary Force, and Dawei Defense Team (DDT). The revolutionary forces successfully withdrew around noon without casualties. The Dawei District Allied Forces have announced their commitment to continuing efforts to end the military council’s acts of terrorism and brutality as quickly as possible. According to local sources, these attacks have created significant anxiety among military council troops, leading to a noticeable reduction in their movements and activities in the area. The successful coordinated assault demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in the region and their determination to oppose the military council’s oppression of civilians.
