More than 10 civilians, including children, were killed and many others were injured when the terrorist military council conducted airstrikes on Thasi and Minsu villages in Mingin Township, Sagaing Region, according to local residents. The military council forces deliberately targeted these villages with helicopter gunships at around 2:45 PM on May 23. The attacks resulted in the destruction of villagers’ homes and the deaths of innocent civilians.
According to local sources, approximately 14 people were injured in the airstrikes, with 8 of them in critical condition. Among the wounded are children, and due to the severity of some injuries, the death toll is expected to rise. Following the attacks, local residents have been forced to flee to safer locations and are facing difficulties accessing medical care and other necessary assistance. The military council forces frequently conduct such airstrikes on civilian areas, resulting in regular casualties and injuries among innocent civilians.
As the military council’s offensive operations have intensified in the Sagaing Region, there has been a corresponding increase in war crimes against civilians. Local residents continue to face situations where they must abandon their lives, homes, and properties to seek refuge in safer areas. The military council’s systematic attacks on civilian populations have created an ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region, with limited access to essential services and support for those affected by the violence. The recent attack on Thasi and Minsu villages represents another instance of the military council’s deliberate targeting of civilian populations, resulting in significant loss of life and displacement of local communities.
