
A monastery sheltering internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Zeetaw village, Myaing Township, Magway Region was targeted in an aerial attack by the military forces, resulting in the death of one woman and leaving several others injured. The airstrike occurred at approximately 1:21 PM on June 16, when military jet fighters bombarded the monastery compound. The attack claimed the life of one female IDP and left seven others wounded, with two victims in critical condition according to local sources.
The targeted monastery serves as a refuge for displaced civilians from nearby areas including Kamma and Pauk. The airstrike directly hit the prayer hall within the monastery compound, causing significant damage to religious structures including pagodas and stupas. Several children at the site reportedly lost consciousness due to shock from the attack. Local residents confirmed that the military conducted the airstrike on Zeetaw village in southern Myaing Township without any ongoing battles in the area, suggesting it was a deliberate attack targeting the civilian shelter.
