In Magway Region’s Salin Township, a military soldier was killed during an internal conflict that erupted following an attack by the People’s Defense Force (PDF) on an Electricity Power Corporation (EPC) office where military troops were stationed. The incident began when local PDF forces launched an artillery attack on March 16 against military council troops stationed at the EPC office located between Myohlwa and Htan Hni Pin villages in Thanaung sub-township area. According to a responsible official from PDF Territory 3 in Salin Township, the resistance forces successfully targeted the facility with heavy weapons.
During the attack, two artillery shells struck and exploded inside the office building. After the PDF forces safely withdrew from the operation, an internal dispute broke out among the military council soldiers during the night, escalating into an armed confrontation. The resulting firefight led to the death of one military council soldier and left three others injured. This incident highlights growing tensions within military council ranks and suggests increasing pressure from resistance attacks may be affecting troop morale and discipline.
The PDF official confirmed that their forces conducted the initial attack using heavy weapons, with two direct hits on the EPC office compound. While the immediate casualties from the PDF attack could not be confirmed, the subsequent internal conflict among military council troops resulted in verifiable casualties. Military activities continue in the area, and local residents remain cautious about ongoing security situations. The incident demonstrates both the effectiveness of resistance operations and the deteriorating cohesion within military council units stationed in the region.
