A police officer was injured when People’s Defense Forces attacked the Hmawbi Township Police Station in Yangon Region using remote-controlled mines. According to representatives from the Yangon Army (YA), the attack occurred at 10:25 PM on June 27th. The operation was jointly carried out by the Yangon Army (YA) and the Western District People’s Defense Force, targeting the police station under military council control.
The attack utilized two remote-controlled mines combined with hand grenades, resulting in powerful explosions with loud detonations, according to confirmation from resistance force members. Following the attack, while military council forces implemented road closures and security checks in the area, all members of the People’s Defense Force were able to safely withdraw from the operation zone. The attack demonstrated the continued resistance activities against military council installations in the Yangon metropolitan area.
The urban guerrilla forces operating in Yangon have announced their intention to continue targeting military council administrative mechanisms, armed forces, and their bases. They have also issued warnings to civilians to avoid areas near military council camps, police stations, and communication towers for their own safety. This incident represents one of the ongoing resistance operations against military council forces in urban areas, as part of the broader struggle against military rule in Myanmar.
