In Mobye town of Pekon Township, Karenni State, ongoing clashes between revolutionary forces and the military council resulted in one resistance fighter being injured on May 23. The incident occurred when joint revolutionary forces attempted to recapture several forward outpost positions they had previously lost in Strategic Area 2 of Mobye. During this operation, the military council forces used sniper fire, resulting in a Mobye Local PDF member sustaining a lung injury. The joint operation involved coordination between Mobye Local PDF, DMO Local PDF, KNA (Karenni National Army), and KNDF (Karenni National Defense Force).
The military council, along with PNO (Pa-O National Organization) militia forces, continues to launch daily offensive operations in the area. Their indiscriminate heavy weapons fire has resulted in the destruction of several civilian homes in Mobye town. While the exact casualties on the military council’s side remain unconfirmed, the fighting has significantly impacted local infrastructure and civilian properties. The resistance forces have been working to maintain their positions while protecting local civilians from the military council’s aggressive actions. The ongoing daily battles have created significant challenges for both the resistance forces and local residents.
A representative from the Mobye Local PDF has indicated that due to the continuous nature of the fighting, their forces are in urgent need of food supplies and ammunition. They have appealed to the local population for support and assistance where possible. Currently, revolutionary forces continue to defend the Mobye area against the military council’s offensive operations, working to protect the lives and properties of local residents. The situation remains tense with daily exchanges of fire, and the resistance forces are committed to maintaining their defensive positions while ensuring the safety of civilians in the area. The military council’s use of heavy weapons and indiscriminate firing continues to pose significant risks to both civilian infrastructure and human lives in the region.
