
A representative from Phoenix Sagaing has confirmed that a shooting incident occurred between intoxicated military council soldiers along the Sagaing-Shwebo road in Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in one soldier’s death and another being severely wounded. The incident took place when soldiers from the 6005 Tank Battalion in Ohnthaw were conducting military operations along the Sagaing-Shwebo road, during which two intoxicated soldiers engaged in a dispute that escalated into gunfire.
Following the shooting incident, revolutionary forces conducted a clearing operation in the area, successfully seizing two MA-1 rifles, five ammunition magazines, thirty-eight 5.56 caliber rounds, and one MG-1 type hand grenade. The Phoenix Sagaing group, in collaboration with local revolutionary forces, continues to engage in operations against military council troops moving along the Sagaing-Shwebo route. A spokesperson from the organization emphasized their ongoing commitment to these operations.
Local sources report that military council troops in the Sagaing region have been experiencing declining morale due to continuous attacks from revolutionary forces, leading to frequent disciplinary issues among their ranks. Incidents of drunken behavior and internal conflicts, such as this shooting, have become increasingly common. According to a statement from Phoenix Sagaing, the organization remains committed to maintaining strategic operations against the military council, emphasizing their determination to continue their resistance efforts with careful planning and execution.
