The terrorist military forces conducted airstrikes on three sub-townships in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the death of one civilian and injuries to two others, according to local activists. The attacks occurred on May 21st morning without any ongoing battles, indicating deliberate targeting of civilian areas. The airstrikes targeted villages in Malun, Chabyintha, and Kotaungbo sub-townships between 10:00 AM and 11:50 AM.
The military conducted twelve separate airstrikes, killing U Mying, a 60-year-old resident of Paukseinkun village, while injuring his 30-year-old son and a woman from Sintaw village. Since May 18th, the military has been conducting operations with three columns in Kanbalu Township, advancing from Zeekon sub-township, Chabyintha base, and Kotaungbo base. Combined forces of military troops and Pyu Saw Htee militia, totaling more than 170 personnel, have been looting civilians’ properties, livestock, and carts, while constructing bunkers in Sintaw village to establish a military outpost.
Due to the military offensive, residents from villages in Kotaungbo and Chabyintha sub-townships, including Kangyi, Paukseinkun, Sintaw, Aungtet, Zawchaung, Missalinkon, and surrounding villages, have been forced to flee their homes. These civilians have been displaced for nearly three years and had only recently begun making brief returns to their villages. Currently, villagers can only enter their villages during daylight hours to work and must spend nights in makeshift shelters in their fields. Military operations continue to intensify, with reports of another column potentially advancing from the Kyunhla area.
