A civilian was killed when the military council forces launched an artillery attack on Thasone Nyawtpin village in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, according to an official from the Yesagyo Information Committee. The incident occurred around 2 PM on September 2, when soldiers from Battalion 258 stationed in Yesagyo Township fired heavy weapons at the village without any ongoing conflict in the area.
The artillery shell struck a house in the village, resulting in one civilian death and causing injuries to several others. Multiple homes and buildings were also damaged in the attack. Additionally, in Wetlet town of Sagaing Region, military council troops and their affiliated Pyu Saw Htee members broke into uninhabited houses in various wards of the town on September 1, looting civilian properties, according to a statement released by the Wetlet Township People’s Defense Force.
The National Unity Government has designated the military council forces and their affiliates as terrorist organizations that destroy civilian lives and properties. The public has been warned against any form of communication or cooperation with these forces. Local residents state that such attacks on innocent civilians and the looting of civilian properties constitute war crimes and further demonstrate the military council’s brutality. These incidents add to the growing evidence of the military council’s violent actions against its own people, as they continue to target civilian areas without military necessity or justification.
