A 60-year-old civilian was killed and several houses were damaged when the military council forces launched artillery attacks and paramotors against villages on the eastern bank of the Sittaung River in Yedashe Township, Bago Region. According to local sources, the attack was carried out by military council troops from Infantry Battalions 84 and 19 based in Swa Town on August 17. Furthermore, on the evening of August 18, military council forces from the Taungoo Air Base conducted additional attacks using two paramotors on villages along the eastern bank of the Sittaung River. While there were no casualties reported from this attack, it caused significant fear and anxiety among local residents. According to local testimonies, these attacks were carried out despite there being no active fighting or resistance force activities in the area, suggesting that the military council deliberately targeted civilian populations.
Due to the military council’s offensive operations in Yedashe Township, local residents must remain vigilant against the dangers of airstrikes, artillery fire, and landmines. Additionally, the military council forces have been forcing local civilians into porter service, mandatory military service, and subjecting them to various forms of abuse and torture. Local leaders have urged residents to unite and support the revolution to achieve victory as quickly as possible, emphasizing the importance of collective resistance against the military council’s oppressive actions.
