
The Karen National Union (KNU) Central has reported that one civilian was killed, 6 were injured, and 25 houses were destroyed when the terrorist military council forces attacked Win Kan village and Karway Seik village in Kyaikto Township, Mon State, with airstrikes and heavy artillery. On May 10 at around 4 PM, the terrorist military council forces attacked Win Kan village with a Y-12 aircraft, dropping 5 bombs which resulted in the burning of 4 houses belonging to U Maung Ohn Kyaw, U Naing Lin Oo, U Po Roe, and Phyu Win. Additionally, two houses belonging to Phar Tha Kho and U Khin Maung Htay were damaged by bomb fragments, while Saw Phoe Lin Lin, age 31, and Saw Nay Toe, age 18, were injured in the attack.
On the same day at approximately 4:18 PM, the terrorist military council’s Infantry Division 44 Headquarters fired two 120mm artillery shells which landed and exploded in Win Kan village and palm plantations in Karway Seik village, Kyaikto Township. The artillery strike resulted in the immediate death of Daw Khin Aye, a 66-year-old resident of the central part of Karway Seik village, who was hit by artillery shell fragments. Two other civilians were also wounded in the attack. Four houses and their contents were destroyed by fire, while two other houses were damaged by bomb fragments, and several palm trees were also damaged in the attack.
On May 11 at around 10:40 AM, the terrorist military council forces launched another attack on Win Kan village using two fighter jets, dropping one 500-pound bomb and one 200-pound bomb. The 500-pound bomb hit U Sein Myat Khon’s house, completely destroying it, while the 200-pound bomb exploded in front of U Saw Mya Htoo’s house, destroying it as well. The attack also severely damaged the houses belonging to U Maung Naing, Daw San, Daw Khin Cho, Ko Gyi Tha, Ko Ko Oo, Kyaw San Oo, Ko Kyaw Win, Ko San Lwin, U Hla Thein, U Thein Tan, and U Khin Maung Aye. In this attack, U Maung Naing, age 53, and Maung Myint Myat Htwe, age 13, were injured.
