Humanitarian assistance continues to be provided to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sarlinkyi Township who have fled their homes due to military conflict. On March 11, the Chindwin Riverside Villages Strike Committee, on behalf of birthday donor ‘Thar Thar Piano,’ visited long-term IDP camps in Sarlinkyi Township to provide nutritional support in the form of one meal for all camp residents. The support was organized to ensure that all family members in the IDP camps could have a full meal.
Additionally, educational support was provided for children studying in the IDP camps. The Chindwin Riverside Villages Strike Committee distributed essential school supplies to students attending interim federal education programs at two IDP camps. This provision of educational materials comes at a crucial time when displaced children face significant challenges in continuing their education, helping to facilitate their ongoing learning despite difficult circumstances.
The IDPs in the Sarlinkyi region continue to shelter in long-term displacement camps, facing daily challenges in meeting their basic needs for food, shelter, and education. Through the support of local organizations and donors, some of the basic necessities of the displaced population have been partially met. However, the safe return of these displaced people to their original homes remains a primary unfulfilled need. The ongoing situation highlights the continued humanitarian challenges faced by internally displaced communities in Myanmar, where access to basic necessities and education remains a constant struggle for those forced to flee their homes due to conflict.
