The National Unity Government’s Presidential Office spokesperson U Kyaw Zaw has revealed that the NUG has officially notified the Russian Foreign Ministry that the investment and business agreements signed with the terrorist military council during Min Aung Hlaing’s Russia trip are invalid. He provided detailed information about this matter during a press briefing program addressing the public and international community.
Military leader Min Aung Hlaing visited Russia and Belarus from March 3 to 9, during which he discussed purchasing military weapons, seeking illegal funding, and exploiting Myanmar workers through labor export arrangements. U Kyaw Zaw disclosed that the trip was also aimed at falsely boosting the morale of the losing military forces and seeking political leverage through fraudulent elections. The military council has been promoting this trip as highly successful, despite its controversial nature and objectives that work against the interests of the Myanmar people.
The National Unity Government has declared that it will only honor agreements and contracts signed before the military coup. The NUG has issued orders to suspend all investment activities approved by the military council’s Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC). Through Notification 1/2021 issued by the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment, all investment permits and approvals issued by the military council since February 1, 2021, have been invalidated. This stance reflects the NUG’s commitment to protecting Myanmar’s legitimate interests and preventing the military council from exploiting the country’s resources and workforce for their benefit.
