The National Unity Government’s Presidential Office spokesperson U Kyaw Zaw has revealed that the NUG has officially notified the Russian Foreign Ministry that the investment and business agreements signed with the terrorist military council during Min Aung Hlaing’s Russia trip are invalid. He provided detailed information about this matter during a press briefing session to the public and international community.
During military leader Min Aung Hlaing’s visit to Russia, he attempted to secure support for maintaining military power through weapons purchases and illegal fundraising activities. U Kyaw Zaw disclosed that the trip was aimed at boosting the morale of the losing military forces and seeking political solutions through fraudulent elections. Additionally, discussions were held regarding the exploitation of Myanmar workers’ labor and the export of labor forces.
The National Unity Government has stated that it will only honor agreements and contracts signed before the military coup. The NUG has issued orders to suspend and reject any permits and approvals issued by the military council’s Myanmar Investment Commission. The Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment under the National Unity Government has issued a directive to suspend all investment-related permits and approvals since February 1, 2021, when the illegal military coup took place. This demonstrates the NUG’s commitment to protecting legitimate investments while rejecting the military council’s unauthorized actions in the economic sphere.
